A better articulation of how to deal with actual criminal activity (theft, murder, rape, etc.) would be good. It's not obvious.
(I agree with most of your points--this one is just lacking. Lots of people marched, assembled peacefully...some assembled non-peacefully...a lot of people didn't listen but some did...some police department budgets were cut (sometimes funds were directed towards other social services but these things take a long time to really set up well)...crime went up (hard to know if it was causally related, but it went up)...police department budgets mostly went back up again. At this point, it's worth defending the notion that "defund the police" was even the right slogan or the right ask.)
