Don't you use reasons to draw further conclusions and make further suppositions? Don't those tend to be wrong if the reasons are wrong?
The reasoning isn't just "skewed"--it bears no apparent relation to the events of that evening.
(Also, there was a reason for Lugo to put his hands on her--that is, to get her hands off him. But this wasn't a reason to punch her in the face. Using his right hand to remove her grip from his left arm would have been plenty, if she'd even tried to keep her grip at that point.)
