Alas. They found relative peace with Mandela, but later leaders have not been able to sustain it. On the other hand, given high levels of race-agnostic violence, and high levels of xenophobic violence against other Africans, it's a little hard to pin all the problems on the details of oppression during apartheid. But calling what South Africa has now "peace" falls well short of what I would want that word to mean--one would hope for better than just "lack of open warfare".
