Anyone who reads this who wants to actually be informed about coronavirus would do well to ignore everything Dr. (?!) Katz says, and instead read reputable news sources like the BBC, New York Times, etc..

In addition to doing a bunch of irrelevant calculations that ignore how infectious diseases work (that is they spread, potentially exponentially!) to paint an irrelevant picture, he also irresponsibly uses “epidemic” to refer to a non-infectious health problem, taking advantage of the ambiguity between the technical (infectious) and colloquial (any widespread health thing) terms to get a more clickbaity title.

Just ignore him. The usual reputable sources of information are doing a decent job at explaining risks and prospects and so on — go look at them instead.
