CBT has really good results in studies compared to almost everything else. It's easy to look at that and conclude "CBT and only CBT from everyone". But that's a mistake.
Alas, really useful tools that help people can be turned into sources of harm when overused in places they don't work, by practitioners who are insufficiently skilled, or on people whose individual mental states make it a bad fit.
It's even worse of a mistake to turn around and say "CBT is always bad", though, as you recognize.
