Could you please try to be precise in how you use the word "violence"? You just jumped from "unrestrained fighting" to "violence".
I agree that this is a position that is held frequently enough to be worth addressing: violence is an intrinsic aspect of masculinity.
But you argued against something much stronger, having to do with warfare and unrestrained fighting and so on.
So the question is: if you're not arguing against a straw man, who holds the position that you're actually arguing against?
(Also, I don't know what you mean by "dominance hierarchy". Men and women and boys and girls establish dominance hierarchies all the time. All closely related species who are social do too. Do you mean something different from "dominance hierarchy" than the typical usage?)
