However, criticism of them for doing a bad job is perfectly reasonable if they have done a bad job (or one believes that they have done a bad job). Indeed, complaining about criticism of bad reasoning in service of examining whiteness is anti-intellectual and counterproductive.

So if people say things about whiteness, and then you add, "one of the ways whiteness works is by attempting to control access", but your control isn't actually control but criticism, haven't you just established a scheme that prevents the possibility of discarding bad ideas?
