I really wonder what has happened to him. He's making claims that anyone with the barest training in ecology and evolutionary biology should be able to refute--and he was a professor of those subjects?! Barren oceans?! Good grief. There could be a substantial reduction in primary productivity for a while (as the ranges of species of plankton adjust to increased temperatures and/or more temperature-tolerant strains take over) with a concomitant collapse of certain fish stocks (but not all), but that's a very different thing from barren oceans.
