I didn't take a particularly race-centric approach, but I did note: "Your materials talk a lot about anti-racism, but who do you think is most likely to be harmed by just lowering standards without doing anything to make up the difference?"

I don't understand why there wasn't a national (or at least state-wide) outcry about this sort of thing, especially among people who value racial justice.

Well, maybe I do understand, but it only if you ignore what people say they value and instead pay attention to what their actions reveal about them.
