Good article, except...you're saying this like it's part of the problem of politicization? But DEI statements double as political ideology announcements!

So I think you're mixing two things up here: fighting back against politicization and adding new politicization. Now, to be fair, I don't think DeSantis is going after DEI statements because of the goodness of his heart. (Not entirely sure he has one?) But we should still have enough awareness to call actions for what they are, regardless of motivation: removing DEI statements reduces politicization; polling faculty on political affiliation increases it, as does forbidding discussion of anything; banning strikes neither increases nor decreases politicization, but if you do politicize things it makes it harder for anyone to object.
