How can we tell to what extent your characterization is true of what Latinos were thinking themselves (especially given the large shift since 2016)?
Wouldn't the Latinos who identify as white not even show up as Latinos who vote for Trump? How would you know to count them as Latino if they didn't identify as such?
By self-loathing do you mean the people actually hate themselves, or that they're fine with themselves, or that they hold but dislike the "typical Latino stereotype" and are fine with themselves because they don't believe they fit the stereotype?
