I agree with all of this--and I hope that we can get past the point where we're asking questions like, "Do people detransition?" and on to more actionable questions like, "What diagnostic criteria do we need to use to best predict the course of action that is most likely to improve someone's quality of life?"

However, despite the funding problems with NHS in the U.K., I don't think that's anywhere near how bad things can get. At least in the U.K. the idea is that the point of medical care is to make people better. In the U.S., that mission can get confused with the point of medical care being to make a lot of money for the companies owning the care facility.
