I am also a huge fan of Douglass. But which abolitionist has any claim to being greater than Douglass? In terms of vision, wisdom, moral clarity, and impact at the time and now, I cannot think of anyone else of equal measure.

I think to call him merely "one of the most important abolitionists" does him a disservice.
