I disagree vigorously, and for extremely good reason, with a large fraction of what you say: it's simply demonstrably wrong. Mostly the wrongness comes from being too strongly stated, but not all of it.

However, you make your case well indeed, and the points you raise are ones that others should consider carefully. There are a lot of reflexive and even more badly wrong replies that one might come up if one feels outrage first and then tries to backfill the outrage with a helping of ill-considered rationalization. Instead, one would need to keep a clear head, think through particular points, and ask: but is that so, and to what extent, and how do we know, and how certain and precise is our knowledge? In doing this, one gains a lot of benefit from thinking through your points, even if one ultimately rejects many of them.

So I am not, here, going to actually point out any of my disagreements. I think it's a very good exercise for your readers to try to do so themselves. (If anyone wants some hints, however, and asks me specifically, I'm happy to give them.)

Anyway, good job! It's excellent food for thought. I hope people will eat, but not get indigestion.
