I don't know about the original poster, but yes, I absolutely blame the farther left for ignoring international news. The reason I blame them is very simple, though it's admittedly anecdotal because it reflects my experience rather than a careful survey weighted by readership. But: news outlets that cater to a farther-left audience present a relatively small amount of international news. Likewise with farther-right. I find centrist sources (maybe slightly left of center, but only slightly) most likely to cover international stories.
I'm happy to be convinced by evidence to the contrary, but it feels right to me, and I'm a reasonably extensive consumer of news media.
