I don't think it's actually clear that some of the proposals around trans rights won't both damage things that people hold dear and destabilize key parts of how we structure society.
This doesn't necessarily say that society shouldn't change. A society that embraces slavery is radically different from one that rejects it--yet these days we all prefer the latter and are glad of the change. (And, indeed, there are good reasons to believe it's a more stable society afterwards.)
But those changes are usually very painful and slow, so if they're not necessary, the near-term prospects are much better.
There are some trans people whom I very much admire, but I worry that the movement for trans rights is not taking the right actions to actually secure critical rights rather than engage in a virtuous-feeling fight.
