I just do an end-run around it, personally: it is our experience that there are real, objective things, and we can learn them (e.g. by observation). With a one-sentence argument, we then have ontology speculatively in our pocket, and we can start filling out the details everywhere at once rather than getting stuck at the first step, and then realizing that there's a zeroth and we're not even standing on it.
