I think this hypothesis has poor explanatory value because I have observed plenty of men who have thresholds similar to yours (and who are not infrequently called out for it), and plenty of women who have thresholds similar to mine. (I'm also not entirely sure the premise is correct...I think the answer is different for the average level of hostility and the most extreme examples of hostility.)

The other topics are better addressed in the other branch of this discussion. Also, I don't think it's productive to talk about Dancova any longer because you want to import a lot of side information that wasn't in his post, and I don't think that in principle importing side information is a good way to discuss topics (you are then discussing people, not topics), and in practice I don't have the motivation or time to do my homework. I will endeavor, if this conversation continues here or in the other branch, to leave him out of it entirely.
