We got high-quality data documenting the value of the original vaccine, despite the extremely rapid developmental cycle. There's no reason to demand anything less for any other recommendation, now that the urgency is reduced.
Basing recommendations on solid evidence is the entire premise of evidence-based medicine, and sharing the evidence with the public is a key part of encouraging scientific literacy amongst the public and taking advantage of the literacy that already exists.
