If there was some group now who were proudly calling themselves abolitionists, and yes, they meant the U.S., and yes, they meant in 2022, I would not automatically put myself among their number, because I would doubt that the 1850s meaning of the word is still the same one they're using.

If it's the old meaning, why are they so proud of it? Why are they acting like it's something special that they believe? This is...weird?

I'd need to understand what these "abolitionists" were actually on about.

Feminism to young people in many places is, I think, rather like abolition. The big challenges were won; pretty much everyone agrees on the core principles, at least for the most part. So...who...are these people calling themselves "feminists" and what do they believe that isn't already covered? Are they really so impassioned about just getting the rest of the way in reality to what nearly everyone in that demographic already accepts as the ideal? Or...something...else?
