I'm not hesitant to second-guess Netanyahu, though, and the tradeoffs in speed, effectiveness, humanity, etc., are in large part determined by him, not the military strategists, I would assume. Typically strategists give a menu of possibilities, or take a general goal and attitude and turn it into specific strategies.
