In some ways policy is moving increasingly rightward.

Part of that is reactionary, though--the farther reaches of the left has been waging an intensive rhetorical war against traditional American culture (alternately saying that it doesn't exist, that it is white supremacy, that it needs to be dismantled, etc. etc.) rather than trying to find the best in it and improve it further. Hillary's basket of deplorables is one memorable example of this.

The left is also coming out against free speech, against equal treatment as an ideal, and so on.

This isn't to say that the right doesn't have serious problems, but if you only notice the problems on the right, you're also part of the problem.
