It is because I used a search engine and found reviews ranging from “this is stellar and captures the mood perfectly” to “this is dull, doesn’t remind me of my experiences then, and the production is under-resourced” that I thought adding your perspective would be valuable, given that you already spent a couple of sentences describing what you liked about the original.

Your article would be better, given the non-uniformity of reviews, if you spent a few words justifying that the show actually has merit, given that you conclude with, “what you’re not going to do is pretend that this story doesn’t have merit”.
