It is peculiar to me that one would need psychedelic experiences to draw this conclusion, but I guess any means of getting out of the normal groove gives one a chance to assess whether one ever wanted to be in it.

There is not, despite protestations to the contrary, much of a culture of actually valuing fresh, individual perspectives in the United States. It's mostly a slogan and a legal directive.
