It's about as much of a myth as the myth that protons exist and are in the nuclei of atoms (oh, yes, and the myth that there are atoms); and the myth that viruses, not sin, cause certain types of disease, and the myth that there is more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere now than sixty years ago.

Which is to say--it's not a myth at all. It's not obvious to the uninformed but there are oodles of observations consistent with a blind process and none consistent with a goal-seeking or purposeful process.

If one cares to listen, science can also give us insight into what "meaning" is, why we seek it, and what the "meaning of life" actually is. These things, unlike the very well-established non-goal-directed process of evolution (beyond the implicit goal of the evolutionary process which is "for your kind of thing to continue existing, survive and reproduce"), are highly tentative. Reasonable people can disagree. But you can learn more than nothing, or at least get some decent food for thought.
