Ivermectin is widely taken by humans in places where nematode infections are common. It's simply not the case that it's "a primarily veterinary drug". That's only true in places like the U.S. where either there aren't nematode parasites to begin with, or they have been controlled in other ways (e.g. good infrastructure for drinking water and food safety).
