Just don't underestimate the nastiness of humans in general. Or the kindness.
Imperialism is certainly part of the legacy of European powers. But most of the modern push for equality and human rights originated with Enlightenment thinkers in Europe, too. We've had the ideas around for millennia, but codifying it and pushing for it even at one's own expense has been mostly a "white" thing over the past few decades.
Does this mean that whites are both the most virtuous and the most vicious? Or does it just mean that when a group ends up in power it has more capacity both for good and for evil?
