No, I'm doing something quite different. I'm not conflating them.
Instead, I am asking: why are you focused only on day-to-day survival needs?
Life continues, species continue, specifically because (enough) individuals survive long enough to reproduce.
You seem to want to say: oh, these things help survival, so it's cool to want them; we won't argue with that. But that, thing no, that helps reproduction, so why does that matter?
All I'm asking is that you justify your preferences if you are going to make assertions of that sort.
Now, I'm not advocating for doing this in a dumb way, or a cruel way, or anything else. I'm not talking here about dominance hierarchies. All I'm concerned with for the purposes of this discussion is how we ground what counts as of primary importance.
