No, of course not. I'm asking, however, what you think would happen if they did surrender. It's a thought experiment, and I said as much. You didn't answer.

I don't see the situation as simple, and never said I did. Why do you think I do?

It's a very strange claim to make when I make a moderately complex argument, and you give a simplistic answer that ignores half of what I said.

Also, I don't understand what you could mean by a genocide that has been "simmering for years". There might be many unjust killings, but if a group's population continually rises, it isn't a genocide. You could use other terms to condemn what is happening (e.g. "inhumane", "ethnic cleansing" (in the West Bank), etc.), but genocide is about wiping people out (either them or their identity, even if they technically remain alive), and that just hasn't been happening until now, when Hamas has provoked a war and insists on fighting it in the midst of Palestinian civilians.

A less callous and more compassionate Israel might not take the bait, but that doesn't let Hamas off the hook for endangering Palestinians.
