No, that one's dispensable--advisable but dispensable--because the natural and moral response to mistreatment and apartheid is not to slaughter babies.

We should understand the oppression of Gazans by both Israel and Hamas; we should understand the civil war in Gaza between Fatah and Hamas; we should understand the history of offers made and sticking points between Palestinians and Israelis in establishing a two-state solution; we should understand the existential threat to Israel posed by surrounding countries in 1967 and 1948; we should understand the Nakba; we should understand antisemitic xenophobic violence that included events like the Hebron massacre; we should understand the dual goals of Zionism as a providing a humanitarian refuge in a hostile world and as religious doctrine; the common doctrinal approach of Islam towards losing territory; and we should understand historical identity in that part of the Ottoman empire and how the U.K. came up with the Palestine Mandate; and more would be good too, but those things are about the minimum needed to set the stage.

But you don't need to know any of that to know that it's wrong to kill babies.
