Oh come on Grampa Rhein, we all know that Hitler was evil--really a despicable monster--but he wasn't an idiot. A good writer he was not, but Mein Kampf shows he had many deep insights into human psychology (the worst parts, alas) and the geopolitical reality of the time (while somehow misappropriating blame to Jews and imagining an alliance of Marxism and Jews as an existential threat to Germany--though he did have some key insights into the evils of Marxism that took the rest of the West much longer to grasp). He deftly led an overthrow of democracy from within the system, just like he said he was going to do, and then oversaw a major economic expansion in Germany that was necessary to enact his horrific aims. He also was heavily involved in managing a highly complex and shockingly successful war effort.

Get some facts next time, Gramps. And pass the cranberry sauce, please.
