Okay, awesome, scientific fraud right there. It's assumed that most people are more honest than that, so you don't actually need rigorous safeguards to check.

It's like locking your doors: if you come into a nice little town and steal from your neighbors, you can't very well go, "Locks and security in this village are bull****." No--the problem is you. Nobody else steals from each other. If there are a lot of people engaging in bull**** like you, then we have to add locks.
