The extent to which those ideas are correct and to what extent they explain the whole phenomenon is less clear.

But there are definitely people who both care and think they know why boys are falling behind.

(I don't endorse the above article as a source of full truth regarding the actual issues. There are several cases where, for example, they make statements that the causal factors are factors that are there but in decline despite an increasing problem. So, partial truth at best. But it does illustrate that some people care and, as I said, at least think they know.)
