Please document why solving the material basis of qualia is a necessary precondition for explaining anything in a materialistic framework.

Why shouldn't I demand that idealism explain, specifically, how the fundamental laws of physics as we understand them arise from universal mind? (Also, you have absolutely zero, zilch, nada, none, no experience of anyone else's consciousness. Anything other than solipsism is unbridled fantasy.)

How do you know that "There is precisely nothing about unconscious, dead matter in the brain that conveys even the slightest bit of qualitative experience like the redness of a rose or the smell of coffee."? I mean, obviously there is nothing about the proteins Spidroin I and II, or any other proteins for that matter, that have even the slightest bit of spiderwebbiness about them. So it's ridiculous to assume that spiderweb is made of proteins at all, Spidroin I and II or otherwise.

Furthermore, there is nothing about a grain of sand that has any aspect of pile-ness about it. It's a frickin' grain of sand. The idea that sand can make a pile is ludicrous.

Consciousness can be influenced by the configuration of matter outside the system. One bit of matter can be influenced by another bit of matter. Well, there we go! We have something to work with.
