Poll results often vary a lot by question.
If you look at "climate change", do we think that Republican voters literally don't care at all whether a candidate wants to make dramatic changes to help the climate? If they do, fine, if not, fine, if they harm the climate, fine? Or that they want candidates to avoid enacting measures to do with climate change?
The 5% number suggests to me that Republicans interpret the question as a mix of "status quo is good, don't rock the boat" and "whatever, I couldn't care less".
In light of that, I'm not sure your conclusions are that assured. I think more targeted questioning would probably be needed to disentangle "it doesn't matter to me" from "it matters to me that you leave it where it is", which have different implications in the case of trans rights and the perceptions thereof.
