Pronoun issues are a matter of imperialistic attack on a culture, not a matter of free speech.

Personally, I think many aspects of many cultures are harmful and need to be changed. The problems are not that hard to discern, and although it is not always true for people caught in the culture, often neither are a variety of tenable solutions. But, weirdly, a lot of people who are most progressive on pronouns seem not to agree.

Cultures have problems because they're created by people and people are flawed. Let's fix all of them, to the extent that we can! But in a sensitive way because they also form an important emotional grounding for people who are used to them.
