Someone who wants to argue against him in a way that might persuade people who would bother to listen to him in the first place.

Wouldn't that be the most effective way to diminish the danger his attitudes pose?

If you think he's a harmless buffoon, I can see the point in not caring what he meant. Otherwise, I'd think it was a top priority.
