Technical correctness is extremely important when solving problems where the primary reason it's a problem is because of technical issues.

This is the case here.

We definitely need to think much more deeply as a society about our long-term plans and how to exist on this planet without burying ourselves and the rest of life in "externalities". But we also need to be extremely clear-headed about what we can and can't do, because economics doesn't go away just because you have a bold idea.
