That sounds really rough. I hope we can help support people like that. (I would hope “they” used non-judgmentally would be adequate to avoid triggering any dysphoria.)
On the other hand, I’m not sure the strict policing of correct neopronoun use is as rare as you think. More than once I’ve avoided engaging with an online community because they seem to take it very seriously and I know I am very likely to mess up and offend someone. Better just to not engage.
So I think you may be underestimating how much the original poster may encounter this sort of thing.
