The ad was not for a student project. Psychologists mostly haven't learned their lessons very deeply. Any of the lessons, actually! There's still an over-reliance on university students. But there's also still p-hacking, still rarely if ever controls for how the questions are asked (unless it's a paper specifically on this mattering), etc. etc.. The main difference is that there's more awareness that the superior practice is to avoid these things.

Also, did you know that HCQ and ivermectin both stop Covid according to meta-analyses? One could write a similarly long post to yours about the statistical tomfoolery of aggregating systematic errors and thinking that means you understand the underlying process. (It's pretty much the sub-prime mortgage crisis, too.)
