This gives us no information about whether Hamas is more or less moderate than the Ottoman Empire.

Anyway, given that the Ottoman Empire perpetrated the Armenian genocide, one would want greater assurances than merely being somewhat more moderate than the Ottoman Empire.

If someone is saying that Hamas is the Taliban, that is wrong. But you should be comparing Hamas and the Taliban and leave the Ottoman Empire out of it.
