The U.S. defines itself on freedom to an unusual extent. It isn't particuarly defined by fairness, equality, or human rights: these are widely shared values among liberal democracies. I randomly pulled up the Norwegian constitution and right up at the top it says, "This Constitution shall

ensure democracy, a state based on the rule of law and human rights." It goes on to say "All are equals before the law. No person must be subject to unfair or unreasonable discrimination."

Some police have a contempt problem, and an accountability problem, and it can affect everyone. Being white helps, but won't save you for certain. You may not know about these cases because the ones involving black people get some publicity these days; previously, nobody got publicity.

Also, police are sometimes held accountable, even when shooting black people, just not as often as they should be or as much as they should be. So, right idea, but wrong details--it's not as extreme as you imply. (But it's bad.)
