This description is technically true, but is thinking in this transactional way more likely to be useful or misleading in most circumstances?

By coldly conceptualizing recognition in terms of transactions of power and authority, rather than warmer concepts like respect and affection and trust, doesn't this kind of analysis capitulate to a hyperindividualistic libertarian perspective that has never panned out very well as a good way to think about actual humans?
