This is a really interesting counterpoint to Shor's superficially convincing arguments about impediments to Democratic electoral victory.

But you and Shor both argue for something that is strongly counter to a sizable portion of the more leftward wing of the party: either you don't talk about racism (Shor) or you talk about it as only the most virulent form that is promulgated by the worst 0.1% (you).

Whether we tack to the center a la Shor, or we attempt a race-class fusion on the left as you suggest, there is still a sizable voice, loud in social media and audible in the mass media, that would speak ill of these approaches. Some of them would deny, I think, that you can eliminate "whiteness" by focusing only on the 0.1%--that would do no better than ignoring it entirely. A system built to perpetuate white supremacy would not, they would argue, vanish just because you don't talk about it or because you only talk about the very worst excesses.

So I think you may agree with Shor more than it seems from this response: both of you seem to advocate for an approach that will take the leftmost wing of the Democratic party to task. If it is the case, they may not go quietly.
