This is a very clear explanation of the distinction! Thank you! I hope the right people read it. In particular, I think the point about mitigation strategies not being the same for explicit vs implicit bias is incredibly important.
I expect you know the literature better than I do (as I am not a psychologist)--what is the best reference these days for the effectiveness of implicit bias reduction training (especially meaningful reduction, i.e. actually changes behavior/outcomes, not just IAT scores)?
Whether or not there are interventions known to be great right now, understanding the nature of what interventions need to address is a critical step in improving them.
