This one sure was gruesome.
But I find much more horror in single shots that end the life of someone who is without fault--carrying a gun in their own home, sleeping on a couch, playing with a toy, visiting a friend. Don't you? Don't those make your heart ache, make you wonder, "What the (@W&%# is wrong with our society?"
It would have been great if Jayland could have been saved, but he sure raised the bar awfully high for them given how many items he checked off from the "don't ever do this" list. The bullet count adds insult, but a single officer firing to neutralize the apparent threat would very likely have been lethal too. Dead is dead.
