Um, what decade is this? In case you haven't noticed, the boxes have been getting less and less constraining for decades.

And yet, as the boxes grow less constraining, the expression of LGBT traits grows more.

If there isn't something powerfully intrinsic there, why hasn't it gone the same way as, say, the moral panic over comic books?
