Why do you suppose that these universities have so many Jewish people? What is the mechanism? Is there something wrong with it?

For instance, if it is because Jewish people have an anomalously high rate of academic excellence, maybe the problem is focusing on academic excellence. Maybe high school graduates should be assigned to university at random, without regard for performance. That would, without even worrying about who belongs to what group, result in much more equal distribution no matter how you wanted to slice things up. Is this a good idea, in your opinion? Why or why not?
