Yeah, you nailed it. I was going to say much the same thing, but you hit almost all the points that occurred to me.
The only other one was that Young doesn't seem to discern the distinction between where the identity comes from: is it an intersection of immutable characteristics, rendering us largely mutually incomprehensible to each other with the only solution to endorse each others narratives with the narratives of the oppressed groups taking precedence in case of conflict; or is it one identity synthesized from the most common features of the group?
It's a really, really different kind of identity group. They do both evoke tribalism for unity, but in profoundly different ways.
