Yes, of course. But materialism is a hypothesis that has withstood numerous extremely stringent tests.

Including regarding how arrangement of matter (which we can control, to some extent) correlates with consciousness, among other things.

Every statement, bar none, that "I can do X and make Y happen and therefore X causes Y" suffers from the same "pure unsubstantiated fantasy" problem. I mean, you typed (or dicated) your message to me, right? But that you caused this to happen is pure unsubstantiated fantasy, when you really drill down into it.

Thus, materialism should be the working hypothesis.

Please distinguish the hard problem of consciousness from the vital force needed for life and I might pay attention. As it is, it reads to me as a gross failure of imagination and a failure to learn from history.
